The Crossword Puzzle Club meets at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 27 at the Savage Senior Center, 9525 Durness Lane.
“A Bad Year for Tomatoes,” a zany comedy, opens June 27 at 8 p.m. at the
Laurel Mill Playhouse, 508 Main St., Laurel. Three North Laurel residents
appear in the show. Maureen Rogers, the play’s producer, performs as Cora
Gump, a nosy neighbor. I appear as the Sheriff who solves the mystery. Joe
Mariano performs as Tom Lamont, the agent for actress, Myra Marlowe, played
by Cheryl Walker, the star of the show, who I try in vain to arrest.
Other performers are Denny Meyers as Piney, a not very bright handy man who falls
in love with a recording; Sabrina DeLee as Willa Mae Wilcox, a strange
herbalist; and Marie Sproul as Reba Harper, another bothersome neighbor. The
show is every Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. until July 20 with an
additional performance July 10 at 8 p.m. and matinees on July 6 and 20 at 2 p.m. Call 301-617-9906.
The Reservoir High Class of 2009 will offer car washes Sunday, June 15 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The car wash is free, but donations wil be very much appreciated. The proceeds will be used for the class prom. The car wash will be at the Shell station at 9280 All Saints Road, in Laurel.
