Children Need Winter Clothing

The Kickoff of “Winterwear for Kids” is Wednesday, Sept. 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Savage Senior Center, 9525 Durness Lane. New hats. gloves and scarves are needed.

Acupuncture Series Continues this Wednesday

Brittney Turner of the Tai Sophia Institute will speak on the Five Elements at the Savage Library, 9525 Durness Lane, on Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m.

The series continues Oct. 1 with “Acupuncture Secrets Revealed.” Edna Brandt will be the speaker.

Grandmothers Rally for Peace this Saturday

Join Grandmothers and Others for Peace at the Howard Central Library Saturday, Sept. 13 from 2 to 4 p.m. Observe and enjoy the poetry, music and art at the Open House/Coffee House Program or share your own hopes and vision. The theme of the program is peace and justice. I will be reading some of my own poetry at the program.

Fall Picnic at Laurel Woods Elementary

The Laurel Woods Elementary School PTA will provide drinks and hot dogs with all the fixings at a fall picnic Friday, Sept., 12 from 5 to 7:30 p.m., in back of the school, 9250 North Laurel Road. The event is free to all Laurel Woods ES families and staff. Non-PTA members are welcome and can join the PTA at the picnic. Parents can R.S.V.P. through the flier sent home with their child. There will be a PTA general membership meeting and door prizes to go along with the picnic.

Grandndmothers Rally for Peace

Music, poetry, art and readings at an open house/coffehouse will be held at the Central Library on Saturday, Sept. 13 from 2 to 4 p.m. I will be among the poets exploring the open house theme of peace and justice. Come to share hopes, fears, reflections and vsion or just listen.
