The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation Inc., in Owings Mills, has awarded FIRN Inc., a private, nonprofit organization in Columbia, a $40,000 grant to assist FIRN in accomplishing its mission to ensure equal access to community resources and opportunities for all foreign-born individuals in Howard County and Central Maryland.

Tecore Networks, a provider of multi-protocol mobile networks in Columbia, and EGC International, a global systems integrator specializing in telecommunications and information technology in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., have announced an agreement that enables EGC to distribute Tecore's wireless infrastructure products throughout Latin America.
Joyce Snow, of Columbia, was chosen as one of three international finalists for the $10,000 Soroptimist Women's Opportunity Award by the Soroptimist Federation of the Americas. She earned the Soroptimist International of Howard County Award of $1,250, and the South Atlantic Region Award of $5,000, prior to being forwarded to the Federation of the Americas level.
