General Growth Properties Inc. owns or manages more than 200 shopping malls in 44 states, as well as planned community developments and commercial office buildings.

The company, which announced Sept. 22 that it might consider selling some of its assets, owns seven shopping centers in Maryland. They include:

* The Mall in Columbia

* Towson Town Center

* Owings Mills Mall

* Harborplace and The Gallery, Baltimore

* Mondawmin Mall, Baltimore

* The Village of Cross Keys, Baltimore

* White Marsh Mall

General Growth is the principal landowner in downtown Columbia. Other planned communities owned by the company include:

* Emerson, North Laurel

* Stone Lake, Laurel

* Fairwood, Bowie
