Stephen A. Newhouse, a 37-year construction industry veteran, has joined Manekin Construction as vice president of business development. He will be working from the firm's Columbia headquarters and will pursue construction management, design-build and design-build opportunities with private and public clients.

Columbia financial services firm Williams Assets Management welcomed Daniel Root to its office. Root will join the firm and will also be a wealth manager of Commonwealth Financial Network. His responsibilities will include helping clients plan for their future through comprehensive financial planning.
