Howard Bank, a locally owned bank in Howard County, plans to open a new branch in Ellicott City by the end of the year.

The new branch will be located at the corner of Centennial Lane and Route 40, according to a statement from the bank. Exterior work has been finished on the branch building and workers are now beginning work on the building's interior, according to bank officials.

It will be the fourth branch the bank has opened in Howard County since starting business in August of 2004. The bank now has branches in the Hickory Ridge Village Center in Columbia, on Snowden River Parkway in Ellicott City and on Johns Hopkins Road in Fulton.
