The Howard County Chamber of Commerce has launched a new Web site (www.howardchamber.com) that features streamlined navigation for easier access to the member directory, calendar of events and popular committee pages, such as the Government Affairs Committee page, where visitors can access Chamber policies. The Chamber tailored the site to meet the needs of its members.

The Restaurant Association of Maryland, based in Columbia, has selected Paul Hartgen as its new president and chief executive officer.

The Howard County law firm, Reese & Carney LLP, has received the Award of Excellence from the Bar Foundation of Howard County at the foundation's luncheon held at Victoria Gastro Pub on June 9. The award recognizes the firm's 30 years of contributions to the legal profession and the Howard County community.

Audacious Inquiry LLC, a management and technology firm headquartered in Howard County's Center for Business and Technology Development's NeoTech Incubator, has been honored as one of the 50 largest minority-owned businesses in the Baltimore area, according to a special report from the Baltimore Business Journal. The firm's 2007 revenues of $1.4 million earned it the 38th spot-- the company's first appearance on the annual list.

Patricia Ritchie, a volunteer at the Mediation and Conflict Resolution Center at Howard Community College, was presented with a certificate of appreciation at the Community Mediation Maryland's (CMM) Third Annual Gala held June 28. Ritchie was given the award by Lorig Charkoudian, executive director of CMM, for her commitment and dedication to community mediation.

Dawn Knott, of Columbia, has become an independent consultant with Tastefully Simple Inc., a national direct-sales company featuring easy-to-prepare products. Knott offers the company's gourmet foods and beverages to guests at home taste-testing parties.

Bonnie Heneson Communications, a full-service marketing communications agency with offices in Columbia and Owings Mills, is the recipient of a Gold Aster Award for its creative services in connection with Bon Secours Health System's ConnectCare marketing campaign. The award recognizes the nation's most talented health-care marketing professionals for outstanding excellence in advertising. Winning entries will be published in Marketing Healthcare Today magazine.

Linda Paterni, of Ellicott City, has been selected as the new manager of Howard Bank's Hickory Ridge office.

Christopher P. Parr, of Clarksville, senior vice president and principal of Financial Advantage Inc., in Columbia, has been named a recommended advisor by Wealth Management Exchange, a selective Web site that offers advice from America's leading experts on investments and estate planning. Parr is the first advisor in Maryland to be named to the list.

Merkle, a database marketing agency in Columbia, has named Ron Park as the winner of its 2008 Chairman's Award, the company's highest level of employee recognition. Park is the ninth recipient of the annual award, which recognizes the employee who has made the greatest impact on Merkle's success and growth throughout the year. In acknowledgment of his efforts and accomplishments, Park received a two-year lease for a new 2008 BMW X5 SUV.

Financial Advantage Inc., a Columbia-based financial-planning and investment-management firm, has moved to a new office at 5950 Symphony Woods Road, Suite 100. The phone and fax numbers are unchanged.
