Wow, did we ever get a drenching last week! That may have postponed the Savage Community Association yard sale, but it did not cancel it.

The SCA will hold its community yard sale Oct. 4 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Carroll Baldwin Hall. If you are a yard-saler and want to participate, the cost for a 10-by-10 space is $5 and the cost for a 20-by-20 space is $10.

Each yard-saler must bring their own tables as these will not be provided. In addition to the yard sale event, the SCA will post a dumpster outside the Caroll Baldwin Hall Oct. 4 and 5 for those who may want to dispose of items that would not ordinarily be picked up during regular trash pick-up.

The dumpsters are being provided to the community for free; however, they are limited in the types of items that can be placed in them. Community members are being asked to not place large appliances, large furniture items, re-modeling or construction items, large tree trunks, dirt or other mass items in these dumpsters.

Community members are asked to be considerate of other members and allow space for others. So, this is a great opportunity before winter sets in to do that final garage, basement or attic cleaning.

Why not rent table space and try to sell some of your attic "treasures"? What you may not be able to sell, you do not want to take back home, or you cannot give away, the dumpsters would be a great place to dispose of those items.

If you would like to participate in this event as a "seller," call Travis Clever at 301-575-4129 to rent space. If you do not want to participate as a seller, mark your calendars for this event, because it just may be your last opportunity of the Fall season to make someone else's treasure, your own!

As Oct. 4 is going to be a busy day for our community, you will certainly want to circle that date. Countryside Fellowship Church and First Baptist Church will be hosting HIS Fest on that day.

This event is sure to draw a crowd with the planned entertainment, free food and wonderful fellowship. The bands that are planned to perform are: Northbound, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.; A Cross Life, 1:30-2:30 p.m.; Under Command, 3-4 p.m.; and Holy Smoke, 4:30-6 p.m.

This free concert event will be held from 11:30 a.m.-6 p.m. and is sure to provide entertainment and inspiration to all who attend. Community members are encouraged to bring either a blanket or lawn chair and their appetites to this free event. Call Pam Nixon at FBC at 301-725-3944.

I want to wish all of my readers who will be celebrating either a birthday or an anniversary during the upcoming week a very happy one!
