Our neighborhood is located in the middle of farm country. Who would have thought that one of our local schools would have an "Artist in Residence?"

Lisbon Elementary School has had the honor of having Jing-Jy Chen, from China, as an Artist in Residence for the past few weeks. Chen has provided instruction to the students in grades K-5, in collaboration with Shawn Costello and Amy Johnson.

The students have learned new painting techniques with watercolors and have completed beautiful pieces including Asian fans and lanterns with plants and animal motifs.

An art show was held Oct. 2 to display the artistic accomplishments of the students. Many thanks go to the PTA for funding this program and to Lauren Connor, Cultural Arts chairwoman.
