Howard County police arrested a fourth man July 31 in connection with the May killing of a Long Reach man in Oakland Mills.

Kevin Jennings, 19, of Pikesville, is charged with first-degree murder, conspiring to commit murder and hindering an investigation, according to police.

Officers arrested Jennings in connection with the May 17 killing of Jason Batts, 23, of Long Reach, according to police.

Police found Batts shot to death at about 2:50 a.m. in the parking lot of the Stevens Forest Apartments in Oakland Mills.

Investigators believe Jennings drove those involved in the shooting to the scene, police said.

In May, police charged Ronald Derrick McConnell, 21, of no fixed address, with first- and second-degree murder, assault and reckless endangerment in Batts’ death. Police believe McConnell ordered Batts’ shooting, according to charging documents.

In July, police charged Daymar Wimbish, 18, of Owings Mills, in Baltimore County, and Lamont Anthony Johnson, 24, of Owings Mills, with first-degree murder, first-degree assault and armed robbery in Batts’ death.

Detectives believe Johnson approached Batts and two of Batts’ friends with a shotgun and told the three he was there to rob them, police said.

Detectives also believe that Johnson shot Batts during the robbery, according to police.
