I express my sincere appreciation for the quick and effective response from members of your the county's Department of Public Works for tackling an overgrown section of sidewalk on my street. A concerned Lisa Brightwell courteously expedited my report to the next level and managed my call. But the best is yet to come.

In the same week that I report the problem, as if by magic, a sidewalk suddenly appears where before was a carpet of ivy, scraggly drooping tree branches that threatened to snag the hair on some poor pedestrian's noggin, and a tangle of bushes that impudently pushed all into the road.

Here are the names of those heroes who conquered an encroaching forest and freed a sidewalk, enabling members of my community to enjoy a walk on the west side of Rowanberry Drive: Tim Cugle, who examined the site and decided to help, Wayne French, Richard Harvey and Troy Johnson. Thanks to all.
