A county community group is holding a half-day workshop on Aug. 23 aimed at helping homeowners having trouble making their mortgage payments.
The workshop will be held from 8:30 to noon at the Wilde Lake Interfaith Center, 10431 Twin Rivers Rd.
Sponsored by People Acting Together in Howard, the workshop will include sessions on homeowners' rights and the foreclosure process.
Individual homeowners with mortgage problems will have the chance to meet privately with housing counselors and attorneys, said Hector Rodriguez, lead organizer for PATH.
"A lot of people living in houses now are finding they are not as safe as they thought," Rodriguez said.
Homeowners are urged to bring all paperwork related to their current loan as well as any foreclosure notices or threats of foreclosure.
