Albert E. Brodhurst
Albert Edward Brodhurst, of Columbia, formerly of Westminster, died Aug. 22, 2008, of a stroke, at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. He was 73.
He was born Sept. 26, 1934, in Belize, Central America, to George H. and Olive A. Padget Brodhurst.
In the late 1940s, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a lieutenant during the Korean War.
He married Sara C. Poehlman, who died in 2005.
He married Margery Guerin in 2007.
Beginning in 1956, he worked as a cadastrial surveyor for the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey, where he was employed for four years.
Mr. Brodhurst graduated from Tri-State College in 1960 with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. Five years later, he earned a bachelor's degree in law from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago. In addition, he earned a bachelor's degree in logistics engineering in 1969 from the Army-Navy School, in Washington, D.C.
He owned and operated The Brodhurst Co. in Columbia and Silver Spring for 32 years. He served as a business executive and a lawyer, until he retired in 2006 and closed the firm.
Mr. Brodhurst was a member of the Preparedness Association Society Logistics Engineers; and the ELKS Lodge, in Westminster.
He was predeceased by his wife, Sara C. Poehlman Brodhurst.
In addition to his wife, Margery Guerin Brodhurst, Mr. Brodhurst is survived by a sister, Sonja Rodriguez, of Belize; a brother, Henry Brodhurst, of Florida; as well as children; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
