Rosier Edward "Strim" Strimel Sr., of Ellicott City, died May 18, 2008, of cardiac arrest, at Howard County General Hospital. He was 89.

He was born April 12, 1919, in Cecil, Pa., to Marie and Adlin J. Strimel.

He married Mary Jane Bentrem in 1942. She died in 1948.

He married Margaret Teresa Vorce in 1950. She died in 1997.

In 1941, Mr. Strimel enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a staff sergeant in the 4th Infantry Division while in combat during World War II. He was discharged in 1945.

He was a carpenter for Naval Ordinance Laboratory, in Silver Spring, retiring in 1965 after 19 years.

In 1965, Mr. Strimel became a Realtor and worked for various real estate companies, including Silver Key Realty, in Laurel, for 10 years.

Mr. Strimel then began his own real estate business, in the 1980s, called R.E. Strimel Real Estate, in Clarksville. He retired from the real estate business after 20 years and sold the company.

He was a member of the Lions International, a community service group, and for a time, served as chairman.

In addition to his wives, he was predeceased by two sisters, Mercene Swinamer and Leona Strimel; and a brother, Adlin Strimel.

He is survived by two daughters, Aileen Strimel Herman, of Woodbine, and Tiffany Marie Roebuck, of Eldersburg; a son, Rosier E. Strimel Jr., of Crandall, Ga.; four granddaughters, Kerrie McDermitt, of Lusby, Tracy McCann, of Whitewater, Colo., Marilee Mayer, of Winter Springs, Fla., and Holli Strimel, of Clermont, Fla.; a grandson, Eddie Strimel, of O'Fallon, Mo.; eight great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Funeral services were held May 22, 2008, at Harry H. Witzke's Funeral Home, in Ellicott City.

Interment followed at Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens, in Marriottsville.
