Paul Joseph Brown Sr., of Catonsville, formerly of Dayton, died April 3, 2008, of Parkinson's disease, at the Cardinal Shehan Center at Stella Maris, in Timonium. He was 88.

Born March 11, 1920, in Dayton, to Carl Thomas and Irene Cecelia O'Neill Brown, he attended Clarksville High School for about a year in the 1930s.

He married Emily Wachter in 1943.

Mr. Brown worked as a delivery man for Bond Bread, now defunct, in Baltimore, for more than 20 years. He retired in 1983.

He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, in Dayton, and later at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Catonsville, where he served as an usher.

He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Emily Brown, who died in 2007; and a son, Stephen J. Brown.

Mr. Brown is survived by a daughter, Joyce A. Brown, of Timonium; a son, Paul Joseph Brown Jr., of Ellicott City; a brother, Henry S. Brown, of Florida; two grandchildren, Michael Brown, of West Virginia, and Cynthia Brown, of Hanover.

A Mass of Christian burial was held April 7, 2008, at St. Mark's Catholic Church, in Catonsville. The Rev. Christopher Whatley officiated.

Interment followed at Patuxent Cemetery of Mount Carmel Church, in Olney.
