I cannot believe that Brian Lynch, the area VP for Comcast, took the time to write such a worthless letter to the Columbia Flier.
Comcast seems to think that by letting their customers know ahead of time about changes that these changes are going to be welcomed. The only options available to watch the Washington, D.C. channels is to pay Comcast $3.95 a month for each digital box and to pay $17.95 for somebody to come to your house to install said boxes.
Mr. Lynch calls this "easy and inexpensive options to allow analog customers to join the digital age." Thank you, Comcast, for forcing your customers to join the digital age. Nothing better than to shove something down somebody's throat whether they want it or not.
We received our "better than ever" (for whom?) new channel lineup today. CNN, which was Channel 2, is now Channel 54. Channel 2 is now Versus?
The Golf Channel (how many people really care about golf?) is now Channel 3. Not only have they moved most of the channels around so that we now have to relearn them again (for the fourth or fifth time?), but MASN, which is mostly a D.C. sports station, is now Channel 4 and Comcast Sportsnet is now Channel 7.
Seems to me that they are pushing their own channels so I guess that is good for Comcast. What about their customers? I could go on and on, but I get madder by the minute as I see the so-called improved channel lineup and as I read Lynch's letter.
The answer to Comcast's change of lineup? Simple. Verizon FIOS carries all D.C. stations and the NFL Network at no charge. Want to take a guess as to what our next Internet and TV company is going to be? You guessed it, Verizon.
Goodbye, Comcast. You won't be missed!
