As a Democrat, I think that locally elected Democrats should be seen volunteering at the Howard County Fair because it looks exceedingly bad to me when they don't.

I'm sure they received the same request to volunteer as I did, but none of them showed up or apparently saw the need to do so. Democrats are supposed to be the "Party of the People" hearing and identifying with their problems. It is called caring. I'm not looking to hear their excuses as to why they didn't show up, but I would like to shame them into changing their poor behavior.

I think their stealth performance is unacceptable and I hope other Democrats in the county feel the same way as I do. In fact, one seldom sees elected Democrats volunteering at any Democratic function or work session. If 90 percent of success is showing up, then one wonders what gives here?

Quite frankly, I see more of Rep. Elijah Cummings in Howard County than I do locally elected Democrats and I am sure he is a thousand times busier. I also think that people should start asking locally elected Democrats how they volunteer in their daily life. Volunteering is something everyone should do.
