Synchronized swimming

Try synchronized swimming Sept. 28 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at the Fairlands Aquatics Center. Cost: $10 (includes a nose clip). Meet in the deep end at 4:15 p.m.

Beginning synchronized swimming will be offered Wednesdays (6:30-7:30 p.m.) and Sundays (4:30-5:30) during October. The first class is Oct. 1. Cost. $75. Boys and girls ages 7-19 are welcome. Interested swimmers must be able to swim two lengths of the pool and feel comfortable in the deep end of the pool.

Tennis

The Howard County Tennis Association's fall outdoor tennis program will be held Oct. 4-Nov. 1 for ages 12 and younger at the beginner and intermediate skill levels. Ice hockey

The Howard Huskies have openings on their Squirt Silver (B) and Peewee Silver (B) travel teams as well as several openings in their recreational/development programs (all ages).

Basketball

HCYP Basketball is accepting registrations for winter recreational basketball for boys and girls ages 6 through 18. Practice begins Nov. 1 with weekend league games starting in December and ending next March. Registration will close on Sept. 22 for children ages 8-13. The Maryland Hurricanes 14-U girls team is holding a basketball clinic for girls and boys ages 11-15, Fri. and Sat., Sept. 19-20 and Sept. 26-27, from 1-3 p.m. at Folly Quarter Middle School. Mount St. Joseph will hold a fall basketball camp Sept. 28 (noon-2:30 p.m.), Sept. 29, 30 and Oct. 1 (all 6-8:30 p.m.). Boys ages 7-15 are eligible to attend. The camp will emphasize fundamentals and offensive skill development. Cost: $115 ($210 for two campers in the same family). Registration is underway for the Elkridge Youth Organization basketball recreational programs for boys and girls ages 5-17. Field hockey

The Baltimore Blitz field hockey club is looking for girls in the U-14, U-16 and U-19 age levels for travel teams for the indoor winter season.
