Ice hockey

Howard High School's Lions' Pride Hall of Fame luncheon will be held Oct. 18 at noon with inductions to follow. Call 410-313-2867.

Field hockey

The River Hill field hockey will hold a field hockey clinic for elementary and middle school girls Oct. 18 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The clinic will include instruction and drills. The last hour will consist of games. Cost: $40 per player. Bring water bottle, mouth guard, shin guards and a stick. (A few sticks are available for loan.)

Soccer

The SAC U-15 boys select team is looking for several players born between Aug. 1, 1993 and July 31, 1994. Supplemental tryouts will be held Oct. 16 from 7-8:30 p.m., at Covenant Park, field 8. Lacrosse

Basketball

The Columbia Ravens are offering winter recreational basketball, travel leagues and a pre-season skills and conditioning camp for high school boys and girls. Information on these programs is available at www.columbiaravensbasketball.com under events.

The county rec department is registering for the Greater Howard County Travel Basketball League. Fee: $550 per team. Leagues are open for boys (10-U to 14-U) and girls (12-U to 14-U). League play begins in December and all games are played at the Glenwood Community Center. Call 410-313-7275 to register.

Registration continues through October for the Elkridge Youth Organization's winter recreational basketball program. Cost: $150. Boys and girls ages 5-17 are welcome. Go to www.eyosports.org or send an e-mail with EYO on the subject line to kman941@aol.com.

The Savage Boys & Girls Club will hold tryouts for these winter travel teams:

4th grade boys: Oct. 13 and 15, 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Murray Hill Middle School.

The Under Armour National Tryout, conducted by the Baseball Factory, will be held Sunday, Oct. 12 at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County. High school players ages 13-18 are eligible. Baseball/softball

Frozen Ropes is offering free 15-minute batting and pitching evaluations during October. Players who purchase a lesson plan following their evaluation will receive a 10 percent discount. Call 410-590-1711.

Softball

The Maryland Magic 14-U fastpitch team has two roster spots available. The Magic is looking for an ace pitcher, catcher or outfielder, but all committed players are welcome. Call 301-464-7559 to arrange a tryout.

Wrestling

The county rec department is accepting registration until Nov. 15 for the Warhawk Wrestling Program. Boys ages 5-15 can register for the recreational program or the travel program. Each costs $150. To register call 410-313-7275.

The Howard County Wrestling Program is registering boys ages 5 through 15. Options are: clinic (ages 5-7, cost $50), recreational (ages 6-15, cost $150) and Vipers travel (ages 7-16, cost $200). Nov. 15 is the registration deadline. Call 410-313-7275 for more information.

Running
